At 23:31 the Rescue and Service were dispatched to a vehicle overturned on Route 982 just South of Urban Avenue in the first due. Chief 39 arrived to report one car, no entrapment, minor injuries, and the Northbound lane blocked. Mutual Aid Ambulance treated the operator at the scene. Also assisting was Rescue 73.
At 14:30 the Rescue and Service were dispatched to a multiple vehicle accident at the intersection of Arnold Palmer Drive and Cat Curve Road with one car overturned. Two people sustained injury. Then at 14:50 a structure alarm was struck for a furnace fire on Corgi Road in the first due. The Rescue-Engine responded from the car crash and the Engine and Tanker from Station. Crews determined it was a furnace malfunction with no extension to the structure.
At 13:04 the Engine and Tanker were sent to assist Station 33 with a working structure fire on Dos Drive. The Engine crew was assigned to suppression and overhaul and the Tanker was assigned to water supply. While the crew operated, Engine 39 was reassigned to a hydrant to fill tankers. Others assisting included 36, 91, 114, 35, 79, 83, 113, 96, 109, 71, and 34 for RIT. Thanks to Station 43 for relocating to Station 39 for Standby.
At 21:03 station 39 was dispatched to a motorcycle accident on Route 982 just South of Paul Street. Upon arrival crews found 2 patients on the road, a motorcycle down, and a passenger car which was involved. Crews assisted with patient care and traffic control. Two patients were transported by Mutual Aid Ambulance to the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport for air transport to a trauma center. Route 982 was closed between Route 30 and Main Street until State Police conducted their investigation. ...
At 16:03 the Rescue and Service were sent to assist 110 with a car into a tree on Bethel Church Road near the Beacon Light Road intersection. While returning from Bethel Church Road at 16:41 the Rescue and Service were dispatched to a car into a pole with wires down on Charles Houck Road near Greenfield Drive. Then at 18:02 the station was activated to assist station 42 with an automatic fire alarm on Idlewild Hill. At 19:24 firefighters were activated for a tree down blocking traffic on Route 3...
At 13:38 the Engine and Rescue-Engine were sent to assist 114 with a shed fire on Monastery Drive. Upon arrival of Engine 39 Captain 114 requested a line be stretched to extinguish the fire. Initially Rescue 39 was given an order to hold a nearby hydrant. Eventually the Rescue crew was brought to the scene to assist with overhaul. Other units assisting included 71 and 113.
At 21:26 the Rescue was dispatched to a quad rollover accident off Puriton Avenue in the first due. Chief 39 arrived to report one patient on the ground with injuries. The patient was transported by EMS. Then at 21:33 the alarm was activated to assist 114 with a residential structure fire on Heritage Drive and the Engine was dispatched from station. At 19:11 the Foam Truck, Engine, and Tanker were sent to extinguish a brush and mulch fire endangering an electrical box in the parking lot area of the Mt. Laurel Plaza. Chief 39 arrived to find a smoldering fire in a small area under bushes. A booster CAFS line was stretched from the foam truck and quickly extinguished the fire with no extension. The first of 2 alarms to which our volunteers responded this evening.
At 15:23 the Rescue was dispatched to assist Station 114 with a physical Rescue for a patient who fell over a steep hillside off Horseshoe Drive. The first arriving officer reported a lady down a 75-to-100 foot hillside denying any serious injury. Firefighters set up a rope system and hands from 39 and 114 descended the hill to give assistance. The patient was loaded on a stokes basket and the rope system was used to lift her to safety. Also assisting was 113.
At 12:44 the Rescue and Service were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injuries at Mountain Laurel Plaza in District 73. Upon arrival Chief 39 reported 2 entrapped in one vehicle. Hands went to work extricating the occupants. One person was transported by Mutual Aid Ambulance. Also assisting was Rescue 36.

The Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department is always recruiting for new members. If you have the desire to give back to your community, come and see us. We will provide you with the equipment and training needed to become a successful entry level firefighter. If active firefighting isn't your thing, we still have opportunities as an ancillary member. We can always use help in the administrative division. If you can offer assistance with book keeping, accounting, fund raising, legal aspects, etc. please consider becoming an ancillary member.
