As part of the YVFD’s Community Outreach for Fire Prevention members of the YVFD took our Rescue-Engine to visit the 55 members of Cub Scout Pack 311. The Youngstown Volunteer Fire Department has placed “Stop the Bleed” bags into service on our apparatus. Each kit contains enough equipment to care for up to 4 patients who may be injured in a mass casualty incident, shooting, stabbing, trauma, or other incidents where bleeding needs controlled to save a life. The Unity Township Fire Bureau provided the training and each department with 1 bag. The YVFD purchased the remaining bags to insure we are equipped if the need arises.
