YWVFD participates in UTFB Rural Water Movement Class

YWVFD Firefighters with Tanker-39 and Firefighters and apparatus from multiple area companies completed the UTFB 16 Hour Rural Water Movement class. Firefighters practiced various means to move water from hydrants and static sources to the attack engine and onto a fire.

Training included the proper way to carry, place, and raise ladders. Important information anytime, but especially if you are short crewed and someone needs rescued. Also inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and maintenance was included.

UTFB State Pump Ops Class

Members of the YWVFD along with Tanker-Pumper 39 participated in the third day of the Unity Fire Bureau’s State Pump Operations class. Today operators worked on both drafting and hydrant supplied water to the pump.

MVA Route 982 North of Shultz Lane

At 09:04 the Rescue was dispatched to a motor vehicle crash with injuries, a pole sheared and wires down on Route 982 North of Shultz Lane. One person was transported by Mutual Aid Ambulance. Also assisting were Rescue 36 and Squad 114.

MVA Route 30 EB and Theater Street

At 14:36 the Rescue and Service were activated for a motor vehicle accident at Route 30 Eastbound and Theater Street with injury, one car overturned, and possible entrapment. First arriving units reported negative entrapment and the control device for the traffic lights destroyed.

At 10:44 the Rescue and Service were activated for a vehicle accident with injuries on Route 30 Eastbound just West of Sleepy Hollow Causeway. One person was transported to an area hospital. Also assisting was 71 and 113-5.

Assisting 41 with Apartment Fire

At 12:14 Engine and Service 39 were sent to assist Station 41 with a working apartment fire on Chestnut Street in Derry. After 39 Hands completed their initial assignment, 39 crews were asked to remain in the area on standby until 41 crews completed operations.
